The 150th Anniversary
of Mary Keokee Monroe's Death
Mary's Mother / Mary E. Luther Monroe
~SHE HATH DONE WHAT SHE COULD~
.....after this day , she was alone for the rest of her life after losing 7 of her newborn babies, then her husband, Nelson & now Mary. She would travel alone & donate Mary's fortune to churches & others until 1893. No family was left. She willed $500.00 to Woodland Cemetery to care for her plot & plant flowers after she was gone.
Mary Keokee Monroe's ORIGINAL burial & resting place.... THE BRADBURN VAULT @ Erie Street Cemetery in Cleveland. She lay here for 3 years with her 7 newborn siblings & father before her mother had The Angel encased in glass carved , shipped & had all the bodies moved to Woodland Cemetery in 1869 / The Bradburns were family friends & neighbors who also lived on Millionaires Row in Cleveland, the man was also in the Grocery business like Nelson, so when all this unexpected death happened; they allowed Mrs. Monroe to use this vault until she got the plot at Woodland Cemetery together & moved all her family there.
