Nelson Monroe built this mansion from the ground up in 1857 in his own words, "adding to the grand appearence of that nobel avenue " --- They moved here from New York. This mansion was on Clevelands famous ' Millionaires Row" which was Euclid Avenue. The adress was 653 Euclid Avenue -Bought by Henry & Jean Chisholm , Steel tycoons, in 1863 for $29,025

The house was demolished & The Gaurdian Bank Building was built there in 1854,,,
That building is still there & today it is a Holiday Inn Express.

Look in the top middle window over the front door. Do u see her ? Looks like a woman in a shawl & her hair in a bun. Could it be Keokee? Or maybe Mrs. Monroe? Now look in EVERY window. Looks like someone is peeking out of every one of the draped.
Then it was sold after Mary died by Mrs. Monroe. The oil Tycoons, The Chisholms bought it, then razed it to build the Bank Building.

That is me on the top of The Chisholm tomb. I had this pic taken before I knew The Chisholmes bought Marys home. I sat up there numerous times & hung out. It drew me to it & I never knew why.
Now, It is a Holiday Inn Express
